Join the New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA) at its next literary arts event, designed for writers working in nonfiction: “Perfecting Your Nonfiction Book Proposal.” Editors Kyle Gipson and Jackson Howard will present on this topic on Thursday, January 20, 4:00 - 5:30PM EST. Sign-ups will be pay-what-you-wish.

By the end of this session–divided into an initial presentation and extended Q&A–you’ll have gained insights into the book proposal process that will leave you better prepared for publishing your nonfiction project with the support of agents and publishers. Please register for the event here

Presenter Bios: 

Kyle Gipson is a nonfiction book editor at Basic Books and Seal Press, imprints of Hachette Book Group. He acquires and edits books in history, biography, and the social sciences, with a particular interest in African American history, gender and sexuality, and social justice. Kyle worked previously at Johns Hopkins University Press, The MIT Press, and Beacon Press.

 

Jackson Howard is an editor at Farrar, Straus and Giroux and its experimental imprint MCD, where he acquires and edits a broad range of fiction and nonfiction. Writers he publishes include Brontez Purnell, Sarah Schulman, Catherine Lacey, Fernando A. Flores, and many others. His writing has appeared in The New York Times Magazine, New York, Pitchfork, Rolling Stone, and elsewhere. He lives in Brooklyn.
