Are you an artist or creative who finds the tax process stressful and unnecessarily confusing? We promise it’s not just you. Want someone who actually understands what it’s like to be in the arts to walk you through the basics in a clear – even visually compelling – way? 

Created for artists, creatives, and freelancers, this workshop will cover the fundamentals of Estimated Taxes, a way for freelancers to pay quarterly taxes to help avoid problems at tax time. It may be easier if you think of them as ‘Educated Guess Taxes.’ You are sending the government 25% of what you think you’ll owe at the end of the year. It’s not an exact science; don’t try and be too perfect. You’ll walk away with a concrete understanding of the things you can and should be responsible for (they’re not as complicated as you think), as well as the confidence to know when you’ve done enough and can give yourself permission to relax. 

We’ll tackle common questions on the subject, such as:

• Why and when you have to make estimated taxes
• Pros & cons of making estimated taxes or just saving the money
• How to estimate...estimated taxes
• Various ways to track expenses

Developed in partnership with Brass Taxes, this program will help you to understand how to estimate taxes to see if this is the right option for you! During the session, Brass Taxes will have consultants answering individualized questions through Zoom’s Q&A feature. While you play this perplexing game once a year, they play it hundreds of times a year, and are here to help. 

*While there will be time for participant questions, in the event you have an inquiry hyperspecific to your situation, the team will refer you to ways you can tackle these questions on an individual basis.

About the Presenter and Brass Taxes
Rus Garofalo founded Brass Taxes in 2008, with the focus on working with creative people, the self-employed, and people that just want to understand what’s going on. His background before starting a tax company was as a video editor, comedy writer, and performer.
